The main purpose of a warehouse management system (WMS) is to regularize the shifting and storage of goods within the warehouse, and the processing of the related transactions such as transshipment, collection, and execution. The system regularizes and enhances the movement, storage, and monitoring of supplies in the warehouse, whereas an inventory management software helps in deciding how much and what stocks to hold. An inventory management system also helps enhance the safety stock, reordering points and the economic order quantity (EOQ) of inventory so that there is no shortfall in case of demand in the future.
